The Pathways Advisor will function as a Pathway Advisor for the following pathways:
Education and Training, Hospitality and Tourism, and Human Services at the Division of
Career and Technical Education (DCTE). This Pathway Advisor will work with: 1) DCTE
Pathway Advisors, in other departments in the agency, particularly with relation to CTE
programs of study to their respective Career and Technical Student Organization
(CTSO) 2) School administrators, CTE coordinators, and teachers in developing,
implementing, and maintaining courses in assigned pathways and Programs of Study.
3) Business and industry partners as a part of the advisory councils to develop industryrelevance
to assigned pathways. The Pathway Advisor will also serve in the official role
as State Advisor for Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA)
Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities will include:
1. Frequent in-state and some out-of-state travel will be required as assigned.
2. Overnight travel throughout the year is necessary to provide teacher training,
technical assistance, program evaluation, and to attend student competitions, state, and
national conferences as assigned, which can be extensive during peak work periods.
3. As FCCLA State Advisor provide support for the FCCLA student organization as
assigned to include:
● professionally represent DCTE at all conferences,
● be a part of a team-approach method for upcoming meetings, competitions and
conferences as assigned by the Program Coordinator,
● collaborate with fellow staff to ensure the success of FCCLA initiatives with
behind the scene preparation,
● model exceptional customer service/guest relations in all situations, and
● give support and help wherever needed while exhibiting flexibility and
pleasantries.
4. The Pathway Advisor must:
● demonstrate initiative as a self-starter,
● be analytically astute,
● be professional and have exceptional customer service attributes,
● exercise responsible discretion and judgment, and
● be highly motivated to achieve performance expectations with minimal
supervision competently.
5. Attention to detail is critical, as the Pathway Advisor will:
● review program of study approvals,
● Analyze, evaluate, and update course standards as needed,
● stay updated on current trends and research-based information to implement
where needed.
● teacher licensure application consultations and review if needed,
● state start-up grants, and
● Perkins’ funding proposals.
6. The Pathway Advisor must perform detailed tasks, and achieve results as assigned
with minimal supervision as directed in:
● reviewing program of study approvals,
● office organization and program resources,
● state start-up grants, and
● Perkins’ funding proposals.
7. Strong writing and verbal communication skills, collaboration, and presentation skills,
including writing educational standards and objectives and other related documents, are
essential.
8. Extensive knowledge of assigned pathways is essential.
9. Management and organizational skills are required, with attention to detail.
10. Proficient application of Microsoft Office.
Education
Formal education equivalent of a Bachelor Degree
A valid (unexpired) teaching license is required for the Pathway Advisor Position.
Professional work experience as a classroom teacher is preferred.
