INSTRUCTIONS FOR CHILD CARE CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK

FOR FORMER MISSISSIPPI RESIDENTS

 As a result of the adoption of the Child Care and Development Block Grant Act of 2014, former residents of Mississippi seeking an interstate background check will have the following checks completed:

1) A Mississippi state criminal history record check.(fingerprint based only)
2) A Mississippi sex offender registry or repository check.
3) A Mississippi child abuse and neglect registry and database check (see below link)

Step 1: The background check processing fee of $50.00 will be paid online at the following link Home Page - Background Check (ms.gov) please choose childcare from the drop down menu and use this facility code: CH0104758. *Please note on the credit card checkout page when it says "Customer Info" that information needs to match the billing address for whatever card you will be using to pay with.

Step 2: Click Here to complete the Mississippi Child Abuse and Neglect Registry form and email to Julie Henderson at CHRCUnit@msdh.ms.gov

Step 3: Once payment is complete, visit a harvester location such as Live Scan - An Arkansas-Based Digital Fingerprinting Company or Cantrell Live Scan to have fingerprints printed on a card.

Step 4: Mail the completed fingerprint card to the mailing address below.

If you mail the card USPS, please get a tracking number.
*NOTE: Mississippi State Department of Health CHRCU does not do name based searches, we must have a physical fingerprint card in order to complete the Mississippi Background Check

Step 5: Please provide completed results to the Arkansas Division of Child Care and Early Childhood Education Regulatory Check Unit at BackgroundCheck@dhs.arkansas.gov.
