Verification of Education/Training/Certification/Licensure:
If it is a requirement that a college degree/master’s degree/doctorate/license/registration is necessary to hold any position with ADE, the employee must submit proof of such to the Human Resources Office within 30 days of the hire date. Proof includes a notarized college transcript with the degree received indicated, a letter from a college registrar, copy of the license/registration.
Duties:
This position will serve as an Education Consultant (EC) for the Children and Youth with Sensory Impairment and other disabilities (CAYSI) Deaf-blind Project. The overall responsibility is to increase the capacity of local education agencies (LEAs) to implement effective evidence-based practices for children with dual sensory impairment and other disabilities, particularly in literacy and communication. The EC will be responsible for promoting the CAYSI Project to increase awareness of services and early identification and referral. The EC is expected to work closely with other state consultants and the National Center for Deaf-blindness (NCDB) for guidance, collaboration, and training pertaining to intervening services and identifying qualified personnel to support children with deaf-blindness. The EC will develop a process for the promotion and education in intervening services for the state of Arkansas, work closely with the CAYSI Family Consultant in the annual collection of child count data for all children identified as deaf-blind, and work with the family consultant and project director in CAYSI Project development.
Preferred Qualifications:
The successful applicant must possess a current Arkansas educator’s license; or hold an expired standard Arkansas educator’s license, or a standard out-of-state license and is eligible for a one-year provisional license and a standard license in Arkansas; master’s degree in special education or related with preparation in the education of children with deaf-blindness and/or who have multiple disabilities; three years of professional experience; and ability to travel both in-state and out-of-state.

Minimum Qualifications
The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree in public administration, educational administration, education, or related field; plus five years of experience in education, public school administration, or related field. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management.
