2018-2019 teach arkansas lecture seriesThe 2018-2019 Teach Arkansas Lecture Series for present and future educators featured dynamic speakers and valuable information and resources. Please read about the speakers and watch each the videos of three of the four lectures.

Marie Ferdinand-Harris

Event Four was held in partnership with the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff on April 15, 2019, in the Hathaway-Howard Fine Arts Center, on the UAPB campus. It was a special event held during Educator Commitment Signing Week 2019, where teachers and leaders have the opportunity to sign their commitment to education in Arkansas. Following the signing ceremony and appetizers, guests had the opportunity to meet and hear from Marie Ferdinand-Harris, a former WNBA player now living in Ashdown, Arkansas.

Marie Ferdinand-Harris shared her story of being a Haitian-American student who dreamed big regardless of her circumstances. Her teachers, along with sports, taught her to never give up and make the most of opportunities that came her way. We hope attendees were inspired by her message of hope and were reminded of the value of being the Ultimate Teammate. Watch the Lecture Four Video at https://youtu.be/_B0bKFcI8B8.

This event followed the conclusion of the Arkansas Association of Educational Administrators [AAEA] 2018 Summer Conference. Participants networked and learned about effective school leadership.

It was a unique opportunity to hear an outstanding, caring leader who is noted in national educational leadership. Walker shared his experience and learning from his tested knowledge with Arkansas educators who are seeking resources and developing skills to set the tone, establish the policy and find the courage to meet the needs of the students whose lives they touch every day.
