Early Childhood PreK Teacher Academy

Early Childhood PreK Teacher Academies provide an alternative route for non-licensed employees working in specific PreK settings to earn a first-time license in Early Childhood PreK. All of the programs include 8-9 hours of graduate coursework delivered both synchronously and asynchronously, and are available at no cost for teachers.

Cohort I of 2022 will begin this summer. Participants will take summer coursework and complete an internship in fall 2022 while continuing to work. Participants will be eligible to apply for a first-time license in Early Childhood PreK at the end of the internship semester once they complete all requirements.

Cohort II of 2022 will begin this fall.  Participants will take fall coursework and complete an internship in spring 2023 while continuing to work. Participants will be eligible to apply for a first-time license in Early Childhood PreK at the end of the internship semester once they complete all requirements.

Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or at least 18 hours of Early Childhood Education coursework as part of a bachelor's degree or higher. Applicants must have past PreK Teaching Experience and be employed in a classroom in 2022-2023 in a setting serving three, four, and five-year-olds in Arkansas and have a signed participation form from the district or program that is:
