Arkansas Better Chance Ready for Learning
The Arkansas Division of Elementary and Secondary Education is committed to supporting Arkansas Better Chance (ABC) Early Childhood programs with the challenge of reassessing program plans in order to be sufficiently prepared for learning for the 2020-21 school year.
The ABC Program - Early Childhood Ready for Learning document
(PDF) identifies priority areas that align with guidance provided to K-12 school districts to be Ready for Learning. Before school starts, ABC Early Childhood Ready for Learning teams should review each Priority Area in the Ready for Learning planning chart and submit a completed ABC Program - Early Childhood Ready for Learning document to their regional ABC Program Specialist.
The Division of Child Care and Early Childhood Education (DCCECE) has a system called BehaviorHelp to assist programs with behavioral challenges in young children. To submit a request for support, visit. https://www.behaviorhelponline.org. Please complete one request per child. Once the request is submitted, the DCCECE BehaviorHelp team will contact you as quickly as possible. If you have not been contacted within three business days, please email email@example.com.
Arkansas Child Development and Early Learning Standards
The Arkansas Child Development and Early Learning Standards: Birth through 60 Months provide a set of common expectations for what children typically know, understand, and are able to do at different ages in early childhood. They are research-based, culturally and linguistically appropriate, comprehensive, and are written with the understanding that children reach developmental milestones at different times. The Standards are designed to assist in developing age-appropriate learning goals for children, to support developmentally appropriate curriculum and assessment, and to outline a progression of development and learning that supports success in school and in life.
The Arkansas Department of Human Services and the Arkansas Department of Education, in collaboration with statewide stakeholders, have established a list of curriculum resources that align with the Arkansas Child Development and Early Learning Standards: Birth through 60 Months. Arkansas Better Chance programs must use one of the identified curricula.
