Equity Assistance Center
The Responsibility of the Equity Assistance Center
The Equity Assistance Center (EAC) has the responsibility of assisting and assuring that all school districts comply with state and federal regulations which prohibit discrimination. The EAC shall assist local school districts and public charter schools with developing plans for implementing and monitoring equitable educational opportunities that are free of discrimination on the basis of race, sex, national origin, age, or handicapping conditions. The center provides support to school districts and public charter schools in the areas of equity compliance, Constitutionally Protected Prayer in public schools, Section 504, Title VI, Title IX, Teacher and Administrator Recruitment and Retention Plan, and student discipline policies.
When concerns or disagreements arise regarding a topic mentioned above, a parent should immediately contact the student’s teacher, principal, the district coordinator that handles the area of concern, or the superintendent. Concerns may also be resolved utilizing the school system’s internal grievance procedure. If concerns of a violation of policies persist, the EAC may be contacted for assistance and to discuss the resources and remedies available. The EAC works proactively with districts and parents to resolve issues at the lowest possible level. If you would like to file a complaint alleging violation(s), you may use the form below or submit your complaint in writing to the EAC. If the complaint is related to specific student(s), also include the Consent to Release Student Information form.
