Military Education Coordinators

A military education coordinator serves as a public school district’s primary point of contact for each child of a military family and his or her parent or legal guardian. The military education coordinator shall have specialized knowledge regarding the educational needs of children of military families and the obstacles that children of military families face in obtaining an education.

All public school districts are encouraged to appoint at least one military education coordinator.  Act 939 of the 92nd Arkansas General Assembly requires all public school districts with 20 or more children of military families enrolled or 3,000 or more total students enrolled to designate a military education coordinator.

Training for military education coordinators is available through the Division of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE). For information on training, contact the DESE Military and Veterans Liaison at john.kaminar@ade.arkansas.gov or 501-683-5188.
