ADE Training & Professional Learning Opportunities

The Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) is committed to leading the nation in student-focused education. To meet that mission, we must support all levels of our staff to be knowledgeable, productive, and efficient in their role of providing assistance to schools in our state. The ADE is proud to provide various avenues of training and support for all employees. ADE employees are encouraged to explore the opportunities for learning and growth available through these resources. The ability to access unlimited on-demand access to a full library of online courses, along with face-to-face trainings, allows staff to customize a learning plan unique to their needs and schedule. 

Develop Professional Skills, Learn Something New

Hello All ADE Employees,

The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I) Committee and Dr. Angela Webster, Chief Diversity Officer and Associate Vice President for Institutional Diversity and Inclusion has concluded training for the DE&I committee members and the leadership team.  

The next step in the training process includes the following training topics, which are open to all ADE employees:

  1. Ways We Move through the World
  2. Attract, Affirm, and Advance Equity in the Workplace
  3. Critical Conversations that Advance Equity and Inclusion

Employees are required to attend all three topics. (1 hour each)  

As a reminder, the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion work is ongoing and requires the help of all ADE employees.  Employee participation is vital to help ADE become a more diverse and inclusive workplace for all employees.

Dr. Angela Webster is an educator, a licensed school administrator (in Tennessee), and a Ph.D. in educational psychology. She was a recent American Council on Education Fellow. Dr. Angela has been a leader in K-12 as a founding principal of two independent schools, the designer of a public charter school, an executive coach, a consultant, and a school board member. She served as a leader in higher education at historically white institution, a historically black college/university, an art college, and a college for women in the Middle East. She has authored newsletters, journal articles, book chapters, and books, including “In the Presence of a King” about her presence at the final speech of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. as a child.

Currently, Dr. Angela serves as Chief Diversity Officer and Associate Vice President for Institutional Diversity and Inclusion at the University of Central Arkansas (UCA). She also continues her role as Associate Professor of Leadership Studies at UCA.

She has children and grand candies who bring her boundless joy.


ADE Employee Workplace Code of Conduct Training

Description: Employee Workplace Code of Conduct training clarifies the ADE's mission, values and principles, linking them with standards of professional conduct. This training also serves as a valuable reference, helping employees locate relevant documents, services and other resources related to ethics within the organization.

Training for 2021 has concluded.  If you missed the 2021 training and did not receive a completion certificate please email HumanResources@ade.arkansas.gov.

Please note: this training requires an annual refresher course.  More information to be announced.


 Active Attacker Training

Description: The Active Attacker training will inform how to respond to an active attacker/armed assailant. The class is one hour of lecture and questions and answers and one hour of walk-through/talk-through to better understand how to respond to an active shooter event.
