On March 8, 2023, Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders signed Act 237, known as the Arkansas LEARNS Act, into law. The Arkansas LEARNS Act is bold and comprehensive and will transform education in Arkansas.

During a surprise announcement today at Chenal Elementary School in the Pulaski County Special School District, Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders and Arkansas Department of Education Secretary Jacob Oliva recognized Jeanie Wilcoxon, a fourth-grade math teacher, as the 2025 Arkansas Teacher of the Year.

The State Board of Education will meet at 9 a.m. on October 10, 2024, in the DESE Auditorium. The board will hold a work session at 1 p.m. on October 9, 2024, in the DESE Auditorium. The board will tour Goodwill Industries of Arkansas in Little Rock at 10:30 a.m. on October 9, 2024.

The U.S. Department of Education today recognized 356 schools as the 2024 cohort of the National Blue Ribbon Schools, including three schools in Arkansas. This prestigious recognition highlights schools that excel in academic performance or make significant strides in closing achievement gaps among different student groups.
