School Choice
Public School Choice Act of 2015
Ark. Code Ann. § 6-18-1901 et seq. outlines the procedures for any school district claiming a conflict with the law. For more information, please go to Commissioner’s Memo COM-23-061.
To apply for a school choice transfer under the Public School Choice Act of 2015 or the Opportunity School Choice Act, please use this School Choice Form and FAQ. Based on the proof provided, the Division of Elementary and Secondary Education has issued written exemptions to the following school districts from participation in transfers under the School Choice Act for the 2023-2024 school year.
- Camden Fairview School District (Case No.1:88-cv-01142-SOH (W.D. Ark.)) (limited to transfers from Camden Fairview to the Harmony Grove School District).
- El Dorado School District.
Note: The United States District Court for the Western District of Arkansas has declared the following districts in Garland County unitary in the matter styled W.T. Davis, et al. v. the Hot Springs School District, et al. (Case No. 6:89-cv-06088). The order is accessible here.
- Cutter-Morning Star School District.
- Fountain Lake School District.
- Hot Springs School District.
- Jessieville School District.
- Lake Hamilton School District.
- Lakeside School District.
- Mountain Pine School District.
