Military Education Coordinators

In accordance with ACA § 6-28-116, each school district in Arkansas must designate a Military Family Education Coordinator (DMEC) to serve as the primary point of contact for each child of a military family and his or her parent or legal guardian. The DMEC's name and contact information must be posted on the district's website in a section designated for military families. Click here for a roster of DMECs.

The DMEC is to have specialized knowledge regarding the educational needs and unique challenges faced by children of uniformed services families. The DMEC is also to be involved in the establishment and adoption of the district's family and community engagement plan.

DESE offers monthly update sessions online to assist DMECs in performing their duties. Click here for the session schedule. Click here for the running agenda for each session, including the link to join the session online.
