The Office of Information Technology (OIT) is a core unit of the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE). The office builds sound, agile and scalable information systems solutions for the ADE and K-12 public schools, and provides Information technology (IT) services to the agency. The OIT also leverages the use of the statewide information systems data solutions to support educational policy, planning and data-driven decision making.

Units in the Office of Information Technology

The Chief Information Officer (CIO) provides leadership and vision for ADE’s Office of Information Technology. The CIO reports to the Deputy Commissioner, supervises five direct reports, and leads an Information technology (IT) team of approximately 25 people. The primary responsibility of the CIO is to ensure the availability of IT systems that are dependable, responsive and fully support the internal and external needs of the agency. The CIO provides executive leadership, overall direction and strategic vision to the agency in technology and information systems use and operations, strategies and program integrity.

The Office of Information Technology is comprised of four units: Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO), Information Systems Unit, Information Technology (IT) Services Unit, and Data Warehouse & Reporting Unit.
