Title IX
Examples of Title IX Protections
Title IX covers a range of discriminatory practices, including:
Sexual harassment
Unequal opportunity in athletics
Discrimination in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) courses and programs
Discrimination based on pregnancy or parental status
Title IX Coordinators
Every public school district and open-enrollment charter school is required to designate a Title IX Coordinator to oversee compliance. You can locate your district or charter school's Title IX Coordinator here.
Enforcement and Technical Assistance
In Arkansas, the Compliance Assistance Center (CAC) provides technical support to public school districts and open-enrollment charter schools to help them meet their Title IX responsibilities. However, enforcement of Title IX falls under the jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Civil Rights (OCR). To file a complaint related to Title IX, please visit the OCR website.
