The Division of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) approves Arkansas colleges and universities to offer a variety of first time and endorsement programs for direct Arkansas licensure. For more information, click on the links below:
Alternative Preparation Programs are for individuals interested in Arkansas educator licensure who already hold a bachelor's degree or higher. Unlike MAT programs, non-IHE alternative preparation programs do not lead to college credit.
As policy, DESE does not accept out-of-state preparation programs for direct licensure. Candidates who complete programs and hold an out-of-state license may apply for reciprocity. Information on reciprocity is available on the Arkansas licensure reciprocity page
