Long-Term Substitutes (LTS)

A long-term substitute teacher is someone who takes the place of the contracted teacher for longer than sixty (60) consecutive days when they are out on military, medical, catastrophic, or maternity leave. The individual must hold a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree or be licensed to teach by the state of Arkansas. A class may not be assigned a long-term substitute teacher for more than one academic year.

The final decision regarding the approval of long-term substitutes rests with the State Board.
