Arkansas Teacher of the Year
The classroom teacher is the backbone of the American education system. To recognize and celebrate excellent teachers, the Arkansas Department of Education coordinates the Arkansas Teacher of the Year program. The ATOY program is part of the National Teacher of the Year (NTOY) program that is coordinated by the Council of Chief State School Officers.
De Queen Educator Named 2024 Arkansas Teacher of the Year
Beau McCastlain, a Career and Technical Education teacher at De Queen High School, was named the 2024 Arkansas Teacher of the Year during a surprise visit from Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders and Arkansas Department of Education Secretary Jacob Oliva. In addition to building the high school’s DQTV program from the ground up, McCastlain promotes a culture of school pride by empowering students to showcase the many learning opportunities in their classrooms, schools, and communities.
