Math Tutoring
The Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) has launched a partnership with schoolhouse.world, a free online tutoring platform for middle and high school students who need support in math and preparing for the ACT. This partnership provides equitable access to live tutoring in mathematics, one of the best supports for struggling learners. Schoolhouse.world is a new nonprofit organization created by Sal Khan, founder of the Khan Academy, and Shishir Mehrotra, co-founder and CEO of Coda, in response to students falling behind due to COVID-19.
The personalized tutoring provided through schoolhouse.world supports the Arkansas Department of Education vision and mission to provide student-focused education that prepares students for college, career, and community engagement. Schoolhouse.world can help address unfinished learning with sessions tailored to the learners who attend, generally ranging in size between 2 to 6 attendees. The tutoring platform can be utilized around-the-clock during the school year or summer. Sessions are currently offered for Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Precalculus, Calculus, Statistics, and ACT/SAT prep.
How can Arkansans promote and support this free tutoring resource for students?
- Share the schoolhouse.world website with students and families to access tutoring.
- Volunteer to tutor, mentor tutors, monitor the community, or provide user support at https://schoolhouse.world/about/get-involved.
