After School and Summer Learning Opportunities
Whether it involves after school activities or summer learning opportunities, it is critically important for students to engage in robust learning activities that enhance knowledge and skills. To assist parents with finding enrichment opportunities that best meet their needs, below are some suggested resources.
Academic Enrichment for Gifted/Talented in Summer (AEGIS)

Academic Enrichment for Gifted/Talented in Summer programs are educational experiences for gifted students in Arkansas at no cost to families. Students entering Grades 7-12 may apply to various programs, both residential and commuter, around the state. (An example is featured at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=urmOF0jel-k.)
Programs last from one to two weeks in the subject areas of science, mathematics, literature and communications, social studies, computer science, arts and music, and foreign languages. Proposals for enrichment programs are accepted and reviewed each year.
For more information, please visit the AEGIS Summer Programs webpage.
Arkansas Governor's School

Arkansas Governor's School is a four-week residential, educational summer program designed for upcoming high school seniors with exceptional abilities, creativity, and maturity. Participants attend classes and special events, including concerts, theatrical productions, lectures, and films, and participate in service projects, recreational activities, and social gatherings.
Students must be nominated by their schools to apply. Completed applications are due from the schools at the end of January. Applications are reviewed by the state-appointed selection committee, and selections are announced in April. For more information, visit the Arkansas Governor's School official website.
