Arkansas Laws Affecting School Libraries:

This is by no means an exhaustive list of all laws affecting Arkansas School Libraries nor does this
document attempt to interpret the law. It is an attempt to help school librarians identify laws that
should inform their practice. It is best to refer to the Arkansas Code as it includes any revisions made
to a law since it was originally passed.

ACT 372 – Obscene Materials

(AC 6-15-438) – Proctoring statewide assessments

(AC 6-15-1702) – Parental Involvement Plan (parent library collection housed in the school library)

(AC 6-15-2906) - The Division of Elementary and Secondary Education shall establish academic
standards.

(AC 6-16-120) - Academic credit for community service

(AC 6-16-121) – Teaching materials for African American history

(AC 6-16-124) – Arkansas history required course

(AC 6-16-128) – Arkansas early grades foreign language pilot program

(AC 6-16-139) – Integrate technology into the curriculum

(AC 6-16-154) – Holocaust education shall be taught in all public schools
