Eligibility/Referral
Eligibility Criteria for CAYSI Services
To qualify for CAYSI, a child must be under the age of 22 and have one or more of the following:
- Hearing loss and visual impairments
- Multiple disabilities with suspected sensory losses
- Diagnosis of a degenerative disease that may affect sensory loss
- Have an identified high-risk condition
- Multiple disabilities due to a generalized central nervous system dysfunction and exhibit inconsistent responses to visual and auditory stimuli
Anyone may refer a child for services. When a referral is received, CAYSI staff will contact the family to explain the services and how they might support the child. Once records are obtained and eligibility is determined, CAYSI will set up a home visit and a school visit. CAYSI will then continue to build relationships and provide support for the child, family, and educational professionals.
